Cures made from humans and animals

Until recently, ancient medical texts have been ignored by many philosophers who have believed that true philology is concerned with works of high artistic inspiration. In such an assessment, which they tend to extend to any text with technical content, there is no room for anything that does not have to do with beautiful literature.

Published here for the first time in a complete critical edition are the Curae quae ex hominibus atqu animalibus fiunt, a medical recipe book written around the 5th century and based on books 28-30 of Pliny's Natural History. A later volume will contain the translation and commentary.
