Sun Dance

Ethnoarcheological analysis of sun worship in Galicia and other European cultures.

Professor Fernando Alonso Romero begins this book with a description of the ancient traditional Galician belief in the "sun's dance." Based on his analysis, the author introduces us to the religious folklore of other European cultures that share this same creed. He finds a wide range of curious and surprising traditions and beliefs that have survived to this day, preserving their ancestral ties to pre-Christian sun cults. Among these, Alonso Romero highlights those related to the figure of the bull and its survival in folklore and art, thus conducting an engaging interdisciplinary investigation focused primarily on an ethnoarcheological approach.
