Art History for Doubters.

Beyond what is reiterated in Art History, we find the unknown, the controversial, the unheard of, the surprising, and even the incredible. Descriptions or narratives that are not called into question are assumed without dispute, until we have a vague suspicion or some doubt that makes us cautious and leads us to contrast what is debatable with various sources, seeking explanations for situations that have seemed suspicious to us at some point, or simply have not fully convinced us. Then it occurs to us to rewrite Art History, searching in the fine print for reasons, arguments, or justifications that do not coincide with the conventional view of artistic events or, simply, that have not been valued appropriately.
