Santiago de Compostela, apostolic because of the one who bears the name of James the Greater, was born on a territory where, previously, both the Castro culture and the Roman culture also had a place. Well, with the arrival of the Romans to this place, the figure of Minerva, patroness of Rome itself, made in the image of Athena, the goddess of the Hellenic capital, must have been present here in some way.

The discovery of a tomb, which was linked to James the Greater, back in the 9th century, would begin a new stage in the memory of that apostle, with the pilgrimage of half the world to this place, and would make Gelmírez's Compostela, with its cathedral church as an essential reference, understood as an authentic cultural center.
